Did you know that Levi’s wasn’t always known as Levi’s? When the denim brand was first launched in 1886 by designer Levi Strauss, the famous jeans were known as “The Two Horse Brand”.
When their patent for the jean-making process was about to expire, they started to use their now famous logo of the two horses in a bid to grow their market. In fact, customers would often ask shop owners for “those pants with the two horses”.
Levi Strauss officially trademarked the “Levi’s” name 42 years later in 1928. Although the original two-horse logo is still sewn onto Levi’s jeans today, the simple trademark name of “Levi’s” is what’s become synonymous with good quality denim, worldwide.
